The creations of the Lago restaurant are as fresh and light as the hotel itself and its surroundings. They are influenced by the close proximity to Italy but are nevertheless entirely in tune with modern trends. Andreas Marquardt, Executive Chef at the Lago restaurant, caters exclusively to the needs of his guests – his vegan and vegetarian dishes are just as delicious as those with fish and meat. The culinary possibilities know no boundaries at the Lago restaurant. The same is true of the restaurant itself – a space that is flooded with light and blends seamlessly into the large lakeside terrace. Or the cosmopolitan Roof Lounge with its stunning vistas. Guests won’t be able to get enough of the view.
In 2019, Restaurant Lago received a «Bib Gourmand» from Guide Michelin.
Mediterranean and yet rather surprising: Antipasti served like tapas, octopus combined with passion fruit, and fillet steak happily hissing away at 800 degrees in an infrared oven – it is clear that this is an establishment that has taken a refreshing slant on reinterpreting traditional cuisine. Here, both meat eaters and passionate vegetarians and vegans get their money’s worth in equal measure. And what about fish? This is a matter of honour for the Lago restaurant. And if you are in need of a more classic dish: the Lago burger with onion chutney is already an institution.
Opening hours Open from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. (last order: 9.45 p.m.)
In October: closed on Tuesdays
It feels more like the Mediterranean: the Roof Lounge, which sits above the lake, is airy, white and more often than not bathed in sunlight. Relive the highlights of your day with friends, tap your toe to the beat of the lounge music, sit in the arms of your loved one or toast joint successes with colleagues. Whatever you do, everything is simply relaxed here. The Roof Lounge measures 400 square metres and is the ideal location for moments that could not possibly be more perfect. And the wonderful cocktails served by the adjoining bar are always the perfect accompaniment for such occasions.
Open in the summer season Friday to Sunday 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. (Last orders 10 p.m.) +41 (0)91 786 95 95

The restaurants at Giardino Ascona are innovative and sometimes progressive. The culinary delights are developed on an ongoing basis but never lose their ties to the region. The hotel features two different restaurants: Ecco Ascona of Executive Chef Rolf Fliegauf has been awarded 2 Michelin stars and 17 Gault Millau points. The cuisine of the Hide & Seek restaurant is inspired by Ayurveda and is therefore not only especially tantalising for your taste buds, but also beneficial for your sense of well-being.
The Ecco Ascona restaurant already has a reputation for offering unique culinary virtuosity blended with a purist approach to taste – and has two Michelin stars to prove it. With his food concept, Ecco founder Rolf Fliegauf artfully combines the natural flavours of seasonal ingredients to create the unmistakable cuisine: distinctive, intense, unexpected.
Look no further – modern, international and surprisingly out of the ordinary. Hide & Seek draws its inspiration both from contemporary sources and from Ayurveda. Each dish incorporates salty, sweet, bitter, sour, spicy and tart components in harmonious unison, tantalising your taste buds and nourishing your body. Local herbs and invigorating spices ensure that your meal is easily digested, while the different flavours and textures offer a rich sensual experience. Enjoy food that simply does you good – without having to look too hard.
